I apoligize in advance if this album has already been discussed on the list. If not, it should've been...a lot. Has anyone else out there experienced Tipper's "Surrounded" album? In all honesty I think it's one of the most innovative and ambitious projects in electronic music to date. For those of you that don't know of the album it was mixed in 5.1 to DVD Audio, meaning you need a DVD system to play it back. The DVD also contains some video work, some of which does the music justice, but for the most part I would leave the boob tube off, find a decent 5.1 system, smoke a splif and enjoy. I listened both in 5.1 and stereo to compare the "surrounded" effect. After experiencing the 5.1 version I have to say, "why the hell aren't more electronic composers mixing in 5.1!!!". The difference is astounding. The music literally comes to life. Stereo is dead!!!! -Sean (a.k.a. Nordic Soul) P.S. Tipper's first full length "The Critical Path" is one of my favorites to date. Technically one of the most gifted producers in electronic music today. ^(|_|)^ _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
